Figurative Language from Chapter 1
"boom—boom—boom—twelve licks" - This is an example of Onomatopoeia. The sound is the town clock signalling that it is 12 midnight.
"wind was trying to whisper something to me" - This quote personifies the wind. Huck is lonely and is imagining the wind is talking to him.

"you’re always as polite as pie" - This is a simile that means that the boys in the gang should be nice to the women that they will kidnap.
"you will itch all over in upwards of a thousand places." - This is a hyperbole that explains how Huck can't itch his ankle because he is hiding in the dark, trying not to be seen by Jim.
